Sword x Staff FAQ

The official title is Sword x Staff (pronounced "sword cross staff"), written SwordxStaff in the developer's social handles. "Sword and Staff", "Sword Staff" and "Staff x Sword" are common misspellings of the same Boltray Games RPG — there is no separate game by those names.

Boltray Games calls it a "Third Way RPG": an idle-progression RPG with a large explorable world (the four kingdoms of Kanstein), a Warrior/Mage dual-class system that branches into 14 classes across four tiers, 200+ mix-and-match skills, guilds, co-op dungeons and a weekly arena. Progress keeps accruing while you are offline.

The global version launched on May 19, 2026 for iOS and Android after pre-registration opened in late March. There is no native PC client or console version; PC players use an Android emulator. The game is free to play with optional in-app purchases ($0.99 to $99.99 tiers plus a $4.99 monthly benefit).

Yes. Boltray issues creator codes (THEGAMETHEORIST, VANOSSTEAM…), launch codes (SS000/ZJ777 series) and short-lived event codes. Our codes page lists every working code with its reward and the date it was last confirmed, cross-checked against six trackers.

Boltray disabled the in-game Gift Code box on iOS, so iPhone and iPad players redeem through the official web page (webcp01.boltray.com/zjcs/act/202607/exch). Link your account first via User Center → Account Center → Link Account (Apple, Google or Facebook), then log in on the site with the same credentials. Android players can still use Menu → User Center → Gift Code in-game.

There is no single best class: Sorcerer and Duelist are the popular DPS picks, Knight is the tank every guild needs and Sage is the healer. Community tier lists for v1.0.38 put Sorcerer, Berserker, Arcanist, Destroyer and Dominator at the top, but all four advancement lines are viable in endgame. Yes, once you reach Aqualis (the third kingdom). Skills transfer like-for-like by rarity into the new class's pool, so you may need to re-pull class-specific skills, and stat tuning built around your old class trait (for example Block on a Knight) does not carry over cleanly. Standard banner pity is account-wide and is not reset by a class change.

Community trackers for the global servers show the daily reset at 13:00 UTC (9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT). Daily dungeon attempts, shop refreshes and free pulls roll over at that time; arena rankings reset weekly.

No native PC client or PlayStation version exists as of August 2026. Boltray lists iOS and Android only; the "PC" experience players talk about is the Android build running in an emulator such as BlueStacks or LDPlayer. Your account can be linked so the same character is usable on phone and emulator.

Yes — the official Discord is linked from swordxstaff.boltray.com, and the developer-run subreddit is r/SwordxStaff_Official. The official Facebook page (Sword x Staff) and YouTube channel @SwordxStaff are where new codes, collab announcements and version notes appear first.

Boltray Games (BOLTRAY PTE. LTD., Singapore), the studio behind Funny Fighters: Battle Royale. Before the global release the game was already live in China and Japan, where Boltray says it reached Top 10 chart positions and over five million players.

Boltray describes its auto-battle as "AI-driven": your character repositions, chases targets and times ultimates automatically in combat. Whether generative AI was used for any artwork is a separate community question that the developer has not addressed in its official posts, so we do not state either way.

New servers open periodically (players track "newest server" dates), but characters cannot be moved between servers. Rerolling means starting over on a different server, and servers that reach capacity stop accepting new players — which is the main argument against rerolling if your friends are already on one.
