Sword x Staff Best Builds: Stats, Elements, Skills

How builds work in Sword x Staff

You do not collect characters; you build one avatar. A build is your class path, four Techniques + four Charms, gear sub-stats, relics slotted by element, and Fantomons/Companions whose breakpoint stats match your class. Boltray ships 200+ skills and says there is “no fixed meta”; the community version of that is “pick the skill that fits your stat focus.”

The stat triangle (read this first)

StatWhat it doesWho stacks it
Crit RateBase crit = 150% damageEvery DPS; Duelist trait
Crit DamageMultiplier above 150%DPS after Crit Rate is comfortable
AccuracyLowers the chance your hit is blockedSorcerer trait; a little on every DPS
Block RateBlocked hits deal 50% and lose crit bonusKnight trait; the tank scaling stat
Physical / Elemental Mastery40 points = +1% damage (physical / elemental)Warrior side / Mage side
SpeedTurn order; 2× enemy speed = double turnLow priority early, important later

Block and Accuracy interact: a block halves damage and cancels the crit, which is why Duelists swing hardest against low-Block enemies and why enemy Accuracy is the Knight’s real counter.

Element and relic rule

Relics slot by element and each element has four resonance slots; finishing all four triggers the resonance bonus and levels every non-resonant relic of that element. So: one element, finish it, then the next. Class picks from the community: Duelist Fire or Dark · Knight Water or Light · Sorcerer Light or Fire · Sage Dark. F2P cannot afford two elements — relics only add 10–15% per element, and splitting slows skill-level focus.

Fantomon and Companion pairing

Attack-type Fantomons for Duelist/Sorcerer (Aegiswing, Nyxarchon at the top), Defense-type for Knight (Boaro, Armopi), Healing/Charm for Sage (Mandragora, Herbote). Companions follow the same logic — Knight: Block › Crit Rate; Sorcerer/Duelist: Crit Rate › Accuracy; Sage: Accuracy › Crit Rate or Healing Boost. Details in the Fantomon guide and companions guide.

What we do not print

Per-skill numbers and T3/T4 kits are not published by Boltray and community sources disagree on several skill effects. Build pages name the skills two or more sources agree on and flag the rest as unconfirmed.
