Sword x Staff Reroll Guide: Should You, and Targets

Read this first: server lock-in

Sword x Staff servers have limited capacity. Rerolling means leaving your starting server, and once a server hits its cap you cannot join it later — if your friends or guild are already there, a reroll can lock you out of playing with them. That is the community’s single biggest argument against rerolling (EOG Reroll Guide; the EOG Important Tips page adds that names are unique and there is “no reroll benefit baked into the game”).

Three questions

  1. Are your friends/guild on a specific server? → do not reroll.
  2. Do you have a specific skill target? → if no, do not reroll.
  3. Are you committing to Warrior or Mage long-term? Reclassing unlocks at Aqualis but swaps skills like-for-like by rarity, so it is not a free reset.

The catch-up window is short: launch login rewards, collab pulls and the working codes land within week one, and after day 7–10 the gap to a rerolled account is small.

If you reroll anyway: the loop

  1. Create a guest account (do not bind yet).
  2. Run the tutorial (includes 10 forced pulls); skip cutscenes.
  3. Claim launch mail rewards.
  4. Redeem the working codes.
  5. Pull on the Standard banner — roughly 45 free pulls plus the tutorial 10, before codes.
  6. Check results; reset by clearing app cache / logging out of the guest account.
  7. Bind the keeper immediately (Apple/Google/Facebook via User Center → Account Center → Link Account).

Each run is 15–20 minutes.

Targets

Warrior rollMage roll
Heavy Impact — best T1 single-target boss-killer; stop if you land itWater Assault — best opener, wide multi-hit AoE
Mountain Collapse — top AoE (cast last)Water to Ice charm — pairs with Water Assault
Whirlwind Slash — essential AoEGale Shield — best early protection
Blade of Lament, Counter Blade — supportingMana Surge — Crit passive
Ignore Knight utility (Guard Defense, Charge Assault) for reroll purposesIgnore single-target placeholders (Fireball, Frost Spear)

Stop conditions

One named target plus one supporting card (Heavy Impact + Counter Blade; Water Assault + Water to Ice), or three reasonable hits. Standard pity is 70 but the reroll window gives ~55 pulls, so do not chase a Legendary.
