Why Block first

A blocked hit deals 50% damage and strips the crit bonus entirely — that is why Knight scales so hard. But Knight damage is gated on landing blocks, so the community guidance is to stack more Block Rate on gear and charms rather than treating the trait as “solved”, then Defense and HP, then elemental resistances. Speed is a fine filler; Crit Rate is not a tank priority. The counter is enemy Accuracy: high-Accuracy enemies land hits regardless, so Knight still needs the HP/DEF to survive what gets through.

Template

  • Tank — pure survivability; holds aggro in guild raids and sets up DPS to swing safely.

Swordxstaff.wiki’s stat shorthand agrees: HP (Vitality) › Physical DEF › Strength. Its beginner verdict — “you will rarely die, but clears will be slow” — matches Pocket Gamer’s B-tier placement for farming speed.

Element, relics, gems

Water or Light; finish all four resonance slots of one element. Selectable Mythic relic: Block Rate. From Loong Haven, gems: Knight wants Moonstone where it fits (DEF reduces the hit, DMG RES reduces it again) — see relics & gems.

Fantomons and Companions

Defense-type Fantomons (Boaro for shields, Armopi for tanking), Healing-type secondary for sustain. Companions: Block › Crit Rate; Defensive Companions give DMG Reduce at L20 and Block/Crit Resist at L50.

After Knight

Paladin solidifies the tank kit; Guardian adds defensive and supportive skills and becomes more relevant in late group content. If you reclass at Aqualis, community routes are Block Duelist / Block Sorcerer / Block Sage — start focusing Crit Chance + Accuracy now if you plan it. Continue: Paladin & Guardian, guild & multiplayer.
